Silent E Lesson Plan with Worksheets

This resource is for teaching and learning the silent e spelling pattern known as C-V-C-E (consonant-vowel-consonant-e). The downloads include: 

1) A script for introducing silent e – This script can help you introduce or review silent e. It includes links to our favorite “silent e” YouTube videos. Showing one video is an important part of the lesson plan.   

2) Six worksheets – The worksheets have a variety of setups. The first sheet is easiest to complete; it has problems such as tap + e = tape and cub + e = cube. The final worksheet is the most advanced. Entitled “Silent E Yard Sale,” it describes an event with 20 “silent e” words to find.

3) Solution pages – Answer keys are included for the pages with objective answers. Some pages call for creative writing with “silent e” words; infinite answers could be correct.
