Grade 3 Math Goals with Basic Operations

What do students learn in third grade math? For starters, teachers might review adding and subtracting within 100. By the end of third grade, students ideally can add within 1000 and subtract within 1000. Some could use a review of the concept of place value. We have place value worksheets with a Halloween theme.

By third grade, students should already know how to skip count by twos, fives, and tens. This helps them understand multiplication. During third grade many students memorize multiplication facts up to 100. In turn, this prepares third graders for solving area and perimeter problems… as well as division and fractions problems.

There’s much to teach and learn! Get third grade math resources below, including PDF worksheets and online questions. Many are free.
