The Phantom Tollbooth

In The Phantom Tollbooth, main character Milo is terribly bored until a tollbooth appears in his bedroom. After passing through the booth, he jumps to the Island of Conclusions (get it?) and visits other fantastic places that involve idiomatic expressions. Ultimately Milo learns to find amusement wherever he might be.

This clever 272-page novel has sold more than 5 million copies since its 1961 debut. It’s a recommended boredom buster for children aged 8 to 12.
