Seven Miles to Freedom

Seven Miles to Freedom is based on the life of Robert Smalls, a man who escaped slavery during the US Civil War. This page-turner starts with Smalls’ earlier life and explains how marriage and fatherhood amplified his desire to free his community. Ultimately he rescued his family and many others, taking them to freedom on a supply ship he stole from the Confederate Army.
