Prairie Lotus

Prairie Lotus is a children’s novel about Hanna, an Asian-American girl living in a mostly Caucasian frontier community in 1880. Hanna’s main concerns are finding friendship, becoming a dressmaker, and gaining a formal education. She experiences anti-Asian prejudice on a regular basis but manages to maintain a sparkling sense of humor.

Readers in 5th grade and a bit older will especially appreciate this poignant novel.
