The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was first published in 1900. By 1902 the story was shown as a Broadway musical, and in 1939 Hollywood released the The Wizard of Oz movie. 

This novel’s Lexile score is approximately 1000. Many children would best enjoy the book if it were read aloud; reading it alone could be too challenging. Also be aware that the book contains violent scenes that aren’t included in the famous film.
