The Family Under the Bridge

The Family Under the Bridge is a Newbery-honor book about unexpectedly finding familial love. It takes place at Christmastime on the streets of Paris. The main character, Armand, is an elderly man who’s rather content to be homeless. He befriends three hungry children who, like him, seek shelter under a bridge.

Illustrations are by Garth Williams. His art also adorns Charlotte’s Web and the Little House series.
