Mario and the Hole in the Sky: How a Chemist Saved Our Planet

Mario and the Hole In the Sky is a tribute to science and US immigrants. It explains how the Mexican-American known as Mario Molina discovered that CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) were contributing to depletion of Earth’s protective ozone layer in the 1980s, and how he then warned the world to stop producing and using CFCs. Molina became a Nobel laureate in 1995 and received a Presidential Medal of Freedom from Barack Obama in 2013.
