Write an “I Am” Poem

Introduce a poetry unit with an easy-to-write poem. The “I Am” poem uses a fill-the-blank template, so anyone can enjoy success! The template also allows room for creativity.

This lesson plan is primarily for introducing the ideas that 1) poems don’t need to rhyme and 2) anyone can write poetry. Optionally you can use this PDF in a first day lesson plan to help students introduce themselves to each other.
